Resurrection

Presented by Tom Wright

50' for Channel 4, 2004

Unlike a famous predecessor as Bishop of Durham, Tom Wright believes in the literal resurrection of Jesus Christ. This film challenges the audience to agree with him, by wielding arguments derived from his career as a noted historian of the early church.

Filmed in Greece, Israel and the UK,  the film argues that the description of Jesus's resurrection, in the gospels is so out of kilter with any concept of life after death that existed at the time, that it must have some basis in fact.

What do you think? Take a look at left, and see if you agree!

Note the powerful score by Paul Lawler.

Resurrection was a ratings hit for Channel 4 when it was transmitted on Easter Sunday, and I went on with Blakeway to make another film with Tom, about Evil, the following year.
